Chest is closed!!!

Today, Dr. Bacha closed up Colin's chest because he was doing so well. Everything went smoothly and he is beginning to look like our little boy again. They are going to start removing the paralytic drug and then shoot to remove the breathing tube within the next day or so. The doctors continue to be happy with his recovery.

Oh...poor little thing. It breaks my heart to see them right after surgery. WOW...that's great that they were able to close his chest. And...waking him up...are you ready!?!?!
You know...the sooner he's off the vent...the better he'll be. Our little man took 2 1/2 weeks to get off the vent. I think we had every chest tube and art line taken out by the time he was ready to wake up! (sometimes...they just need to rest I suppose).
Thanks for the updates!
We're all still praying for you guys!

Off the vent.....are you nuts?!? Before you celebrate, let me remind you of the crying, midnight feedings and sleepless nights that will return. Then as soon as he begins walking he will get out of bed and head right to yours!! Be careful what you wish for, perhaps you might want to borrow Kaylee as a reminder!! Of course I am only kidding, this is awesome news. Keep up the speedy recovery.

Mel,

So glad to get the updates from your dad via Janet and the "Littlest Blogger" has overcome another hurdle in his recovery. How can Colin not do well with all the love and support from your family and friends! Made a cheesecake yesterday and thought of you. Thought of sending it up with Janet today but would probably not save well. :o) Will get one to you when you all get home. Thoughts and prayers from Liverpool. Let me know if I can do anything at all for you here in town.
